Disappearing: The Proposal

How does someone disappear? How do you start over where no one knows who you are? Where your past can't find you?

Losing both parents a young age, then shuffled through the system, Gabby learned to stand tall and weather any storm. She didn't begrudge her past, rather regarded it as what made her strong, giving her the ability to face challenges rather than run away.

With no attachments, after obtaining an advanced degree and licensing as a Nurse Practitioner, Gabby was on the hunt for new adventures. One took her to New York City, where she worked for a family she was certain was involved with the Mafia. She knew to ask no questions and made it a point to hear nothing. When the five-month assignment ended, she moved on to the next adventure: Boston.

In Boston, she found something unexpected: a (grand)father figure. Caring for Bernard Driscoll, a self-made billionaire, was a dream come true. Conversations with Bernard were deep, he listened and gave advice like a grandfather. She genuinely loved him. It would have been a perfect assignment if not for his unredeemable grandson, Sebastian.

Sebastian Driscoll was driven man, determined to make his grandfather proud by growing the family business. A phenom in business, his love life was a disaster. His penchant for dating fake women that were only after his wealth had driven a wedge between the two Driscolls. At his wits' end, Bernard set a plan in motion. After persuasion and a little coercion, he convinced Gabby and Sebastian to marry. In their mind, it was never meant to last, and love wasn't part of the equation. Until it was.

But when Bernard's health failed and he passed, Sebastian changed into someone Gabby didn't recognize and their relationship imploded. After a disastrous dinner party, Gabby received a text photo of Sebastian with another woman. She was done. With public opinion painting her as the villain, Gabby used her New York connections to disappear without a trace.
