pookapine's Complicity Horror (And Other Short Scary Stories)

Every waking moment of his life, the common man is forced between a rock and a hard place by circumstances beyond his immediate control. We are trapped into unethical submission by powers that step on us like plain dirt, then we are made to trade our morality in the pursuit of comfort and a dignified living for ourselves and our loved ones. Is this really the way things ought to be? Is there truly nothing one can do in order to change the circumstance of their shame? Can we never escape our oppressors and their conditioning of complacency? Can a person not win back their soul after decades of building a tower of guilt surpassing the very stratosphere? When faced with the gift of being able to save another at the cost of yourself, will you forsake your brother or sister? When confronted with the option, who will choose to starve off their masters and break the chains of Complicity? Whether the body survives or not, there are only ever two options a person has afforded to them, and you can't eat your cake and have it too. All that was ever left: Redemption or Death!
