Zacarus Mulgwort, a half‑ogre, half‑human wizard, lives a quiet life in a cozy cottage in the Fields of Adderberry on the outskirts of Adderberry Town close by the Reddenburg Woods with his mother and father. One evening, a visitor arrives to share supper and stay the night: Windleword the Wondrous, a wizard known throughout all of Reddenburg and far beyond.
The next evening, their cottage fills with an unexpected crowd - a dwarf, a half‑giant, a tree elf, a fae from the East, a shapeshifter, a witch, a gnome, and a young man claiming to be the descendant of King Woodren Shellton, the last ruler of Windwood.
Windleword has gathered this unlikely group with one purpose: to restore the fallen kingdom of Windwood by slaying Trumbar the Terrible Troll, who invaded the land to plunder its gold and treasures. The journey ahead will be anything but simple. From the dark caves of Mount Gorbola to the muddy swamps of Swargle, this quest will test every ounce of courage they possess - and make one wish they'd stayed home.
Zacarus has spent years studying legendary adventurers, kingdoms, and magical creatures, but he's never imagined going on a quest himself. He's never left the comfort of his cottage, and even his mother insists it's a terrible idea. Does he want to go on an adventure? Absolutely not. But will that stop him from joining the Quest of the Windleword Clan? Absolutely not.
Thus begins the tale of Zacarus Mulgwort, the half‑ogre wizard.
