[Story for the Open Novella Contest 2026 - prompt 109!]
Not only did professor Renoir teach at a prestigious university, holding writing seminars every semester, but he was also a famous journalist. The blog "The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword" was one of the hottest topics around: scandals and corruption were guaranteed in every article that Renoir wrote.
Guided by a single ideal, that truth was above all, he would regularly investigate and expose all the lies of the political figures of the day, regardless of ideology or identity. All while trying to teach his students that knowing how to write was useless unless that words had a weight of their own.
Some stories, however, weighed way more than others. Some truths, however, were bathed in lies.
The brighter someone shined, the darker their shadow became.
