In this dystopian future, the government has created a legalized program called The Renewal Initiative, advertised as a solution for poverty, debt, and medical shortages. Through official government websites and public ads, families are encouraged to "transfer" unemployed or struggling adults in exchange for debt relief and large cash payments. While the program is framed as voluntary and patriotic, it is actually a highly organized system that treats human bodies as commodities, using adults as biological resources for hospitals, corporations, and government officials. Inside Renewal Processing Centers, people are processed like inventory in an industrial supply chain. The story follows Ezra, an adult sent into the system, who discovers the horrifying truth and attempts to expose it-only to be betrayed by Kara, an undercover government agent who manipulates him to identify internal threats and protect the program from being taken down.
