After the Dance of the Dragons, the once highly regarded House Velaryon saw their downfall. Financially drained from a war of their kin, they took their leave to Driftmark and did not look back. Generations later, no longer cousins to the Targaryens, their anger has festered. The Lord of Driftmark, desperate to reignite the bond between the two Valyrian houses, sends his only daughter, Valaena Velaryon, to the metaphorical Dragon's den. Uninterested in being her father's pawn, she faces it with a stiff lip as he tries to wed her to any of the unmarried Targaryen Princes.
Unbeknownst to her, one of them has been dreaming of her his whole life.
