Eleven‑year‑old Dave Ramirez has always been the quiet one, the kid who blends into the background no matter where he goes. When he gets sent to Camp Sterling for 2 weeks in the summer of 1989, he's sure it will be just like everything else in his life: awkward, lonely, and forgettable. But everything changes when the counselors pair him with Kevin, the only older boy at camp, confident, funny, and way more patient with Dave than anyone else has ever been.

Sharing a tent with Kevin pulls Dave into a world of late‑night jokes, embarrassing moments, and the kind of gentle attention he has never really gotten before. Between long hikes, burnt marshmallows, campfire stories, and the weird feeling of finally being noticed, Dave starts to realize he might not be as invisible as he always thought.
