Plato's Drive In Theater

Is there a difference between shadows and the objects that cast them? Are there places in the world where both shadow and object are so intertwined that it's difficult to discern them both? Hollywood California may very well be such a place where this happens. The stars of the red carpet shine brightly upon the movie sets, creating a kind of reality itself. However, do the stars themselves know reality from the shadows they cast?
