This is a story I'm writing for the ONC 2026 using the prompt about the faceless soulmate. This story is about a world like the POVs from before where everyone dreams of their soulmate but won't see their face unless they guess them through hangman. After they guess, they still dream each other and talk in their dreams but have until their 18 to figure out who it is and decide if they want them or get a new soulmate. The catch? If they want a new soulmate, the original dies. Follow the story of this teen girl, Maya, as she struggles with trying to figure out who her soulmate(s) are that she talks to every night. But surprisingly, she's the only one with 2 soulmates, and now she has to figure out who to save and be with forever, and who to kill, or maybe find a way to help both in this dystopian world trying so hard to be a utopia. Btw, this story is based off of events that happened to me except for anything about the soulmates and stuff, but the people and the main characters are based off of real people. The main girl, Maya, is based off of me and the blond boy, is based off of one of the guys I used to know.

At sixteen, she used to be loud, bubbly, and a little chaotic. Now she's quiet, calm... and painfully distant. When home turns into something she has to escape from, she runs - carrying nothing but silent scars and a heart that forgot how to trust. Fate leads her to a house filled with six brothers - six different personalities, six different storms. Loud, protective, annoying, caring... everything she isn't used to. She doesn't want attachment. She doesn't want love. She just wants peace. But sometimes healing comes disguised as chaos. And sometimes, six brothers are enough to teach a broken girl how to smile again.
