John Hampton had not always been a serf.

Prior to working for the lively Bridgerton family in Mayfair, he had grown up in a small hamlet in Somerset, where he had spent his days with the local physician's daughter, Harriet.

Fifteen years later and the girl with the cold stare was but a mere echo in the back of his mind as he waited on the Bridgertons, his life dedicated to theirs. He had half given up on the idea of any sort of future, knowing little would change due to his position. Until one day he was gracefully hurrying through crowds, attempting to halt the Viscountess' pursuit for her second son, and bumped into a face unchanged by time.
