'My heart shatters a little more with every inch the wooden coffin lowers into the ground. Then comes the sound of my one-year-old calling for her daddy'.

Elowyn's world collapses the day her high‑school sweetheart is lowered into the ground, their one‑year‑old daughter crying for the father she'll never remember. Staying in the small town that watched her fall in love and fall apart feels impossible. So she runs.

A few hours away, in the quiet of cowboy country, she finds work at a rough‑around‑the‑edges country bar and tries to build a life for her daughter on her own terms. Between late‑night shifts and early morning runs, Elowyn begins to rediscover pieces of herself she thought were gone forever.

This leads her to Ryder.

She's only met him twice but his brothers are in the bar often enough to make forgetting him impossible. Ryder is everything she shouldn't be thinking about: solid, gentle, patient... and a reminder that her heart is still capable of wanting something more than survival.
