Hard feelings

Adelynn Outwood and Theo Marlow used to see each other almost every day. He was her older sister's best friend, and she was just a kid lingering somewhere in the background - a young girl who fell in love too early, too deeply, and without the slightest chance of it ever being returned.

When she was thirteen, Theo was everything to her. The problem was that he was five years older - and at that age, five years was an impossible gap to bridge. To him, she was only a child, curled up on the couch while he and her sister's friends were watching movies in the living room. To her, he was her first love - the one she never told anyone about.

Then came the fight. Brutal. Final. The friendship between him and her sister's friend's group shattered, and Theo disappeared from her life as suddenly as he had become a part of it. Years passed. They hadn't seen each other since.

As Adelynn begins her second year of college, Theo walks back into her life as if no time has passed at all.
