The Beast With A Beauty Named Ben

This is a retelling of the classical story 'The Beauty and the Beast' with a few gender swaps. It is as close to the original story as possible with only a few adjustments to make the difference in characters work. If you are here for Beauty and the Beast fanfiction this is not that.

Ben is a lonely boy, living in a small town in northern France. He is a writer, a poet to be more exact and he wants nothing more than to share his stories with the world. However society has other plans and Gabriella, a local socialites daughter has had her mind set on marrying Ben because he is the smartest and best looking man in the village. Ben wants nothing to do with Gabriella though and is only really interested in his poems and helping his mom, who, is a carpenter, working on a new invention to bring to a fair coming up.

When one day Ben's mother leaves for the fair but her horse returns without her, Ben follows a dangerous path into the dark woods in attempt to find her but finding an old abandoned castle instead. Inside are magical talking furniture that are ecstatic to have a guest in the castle again. But when ben trades his life for the life of his mother to the hideous beast who resides there, he wonders just how much singing he will be doing in this captive situation.
