Astra has built the life she always dreamed of. She teaches first grade, pours her heart into her students, and shares her days with Lloyd-the one constant that feels both certain and unfinished. After university, they chose Edinburgh together, believing that love and purpose would be enough. For a while, it is. Then the memory of a final, bitter conversation with her father begins to haunt her. When the news of his death arrives, Astra's carefully constructed world starts to fracture, grief seeping through every crack she thought she had sealed. That's when Lloyd tells her the legend of the Great Library-and the creature that dwells within it. A monster that grants wishes. A price that must be paid. A sacrifice for a wish. Now Astra is faced with an impossible choice: the chance to relive one last moment with her father... at the cost of something she cannot replace. How much of herself is she willing to lose for forgiveness? And when the past is given a second breath, what part of the present will it take with it?

It should have heralded the dawn of a new age. A future that would see the human race reach out and then stride among the stars. But a conspiracy hundreds of years in the making comes to fruition at the beginning of humankind's greatest achievement, and its greatest failure. For the fifteen thousand occupants of the decommissioned space station, Sekai No Mirai, and its commander, Shani Akinye, the point where everything ends for humanity is the point where the fight for survival begins. Lost, stranded, millions of light years from Earth, the crew and the people of Mirai station must fight to return home against ever-increasing odds against them and, in the process, save the enemy that brought disaster to the Earth. An SF epic in the vein of Battlestar Galactica, Space:1999 and The Expanse, from Wattys 2021 winner, Jan Karlsson. (Cover created in Canva, using a stock picture manipulated using AI)
