Azalea Mae is sunshine in a town that's forgotten how to look up.
She's soft-spoken. Gentle. The kind of girl who says please and thank you and never swears. No one sees the truth behind her bright smile, the fear waiting for her at home, the father who controls her world with physical cruelty.

She survives by being small and being good.

Then Adrian Tenebroso comes back.
Two years ago, he vanished without explanation. Now he's returned colder, sharper, untouchable. Whispers follow him, about money, power, danger. He doesn't smile. He doesn't apologize. And he definitely doesn't pretend to be kind.

They were never friends.
In high school, he stood by while his friends tore her down, bullied her. She never forgave him. He never forgot the way she looked at him, not scared, just disappointed and hurt.
Now they're forced back into each other's lives.
