In the marble halls of the city courthouse, defense attorney Dimitri Silkvo is known for two things: his razor-sharp mind and his unnerving composure. Judges respect him. Prosecutors fear him. Clients trust him with their lives. What no one knows is that Dimitri isn't just bending the system-he's quietly dismantling it from the inside. By night, he operates as the architect of an underground empire that thrives in the shadows of the very laws he swore to uphold. He pulls strings, erases evidence, and manipulates outcomes with the same elegance he uses in the courtroom. To the public, he is justice personified. To the underworld, he is untouchable. Everything changes the day he storms into a private holding room to prepare for a high-profile case-and finds her. A young woman sitting alone, wrists trembling but eyes defiant. He has never seen her before. He's certain of it. And yet something about her feels hauntingly familiar, like a memory he can't quite reach. A face from a dream. A fragment of a past he thought he buried. Her case is complicated-dangerously so. As Dimitri takes her on as a client, what begins as strategy slowly becomes something far more intimate. Late-night preparations turn into guarded conversations. Her suspicion softens into trust. His calculated detachment fractures into protectiveness. She sees him as her only ally in a corrupt system. She has no idea he is part of the corruption. As the trial unfolds, so does a deeper mystery-why does she feel connected to him? And why does he feel as though defending her might unravel everything he's built? With enemies closing in and secrets tightening like a noose, Dimitri must make a choice: protect his empire... or protect the one person who makes him question whether he was ever meant to rule it. Because the closer she gets to the truth, the more dangerous he becomes. And if she ever discovers who he really is, the verdict won't just destroy his career. It will destroy them both.

Valeria didn't rush. She never did. Inez was pinned beneath her, wrist locked overhead, the hold precise and impersonal. Not pain. Control. Inez scoffed anyway. "That's it?" she sneered. "I've had tutors scarier than you." Valeria said nothing. The silence pressed in. "You don't scare me," Inez added, louder. Brattier. "You just-" "Enough." One word. Flat. Final. Valeria lifted Inez's chin with two fingers, detached as a correction. "Look at me," she said coolly. "If you're going to embarrass yourself, do it properly." Inez laughed, brittle. "You think this makes you powerful?" "I don't think," Valeria replied. "I decide." Her gaze never wavered. "You provoke because it's the last control you have." "I don't belong to you," Inez snapped. Valeria leaned in, voice razor-thin. "You are my wife. You belong to consequences." She released her grip. "Say it." "No." Valeria waited. The quiet broke Inez, she hated being ignored. "...I'll behave, I'll be a good girl" Inez muttered. "Specify." Inez swallowed hard. "...I'll be your good girl" Valeria stepped back, already distant. "Good," she said. "Remember why." #1 older women-13th February (FAST PACE BOOK)
