Gabrielle arrives in San Diego to confront the anniversary of her mother's death. Five days early, because she needs to be in control of something, anything. Bob lives in the city he can't leave, avoiding his family and the ghost of his younger brother. When they meet by chance in a coffee shop, two strangers barely holding themselves together, neither expects the encounter to matter.

Over the course of one week, they keep finding each other. In the spaces between grief and obligation, they build something fragile and unexpected: not quite romance, not quite friendship, but a connection that forces them both to see what they've been avoiding: they're stuck. Waiting for permission to move forward that will never come from anyone but themselves.

By Wednesday, when Gabrielle's flight home looms and Bob must return to the life he's been running from, they'll have to decide if a week with a stranger can be enough to finally let go.
