Unseen Spotlight

"Don't look at me."
​That is the only rule I live by. Most people want to be the lead, the star, or the one everyone talks about. I just want to be the shadow. The guy in the oversized hoodie who exists in the background of your favorite photos.
​I have spent years perfecting the art of being invisible. I keep my hair long and my head down. As long as I am a sidekick, I am safe. No expectations. No eyes on my face. No one knowing what I am hiding.
​But someone just broke my golden rule. They didn't look through me. They looked at me.
​Now, the background is starting to feel like a cage.
