It Wasn't Meant to Be
We weren't toxic.
We weren't chaotic.
We were just... bad timing in human form.
It started with jokes that lasted too long and eye contact that felt illegal. With playlists made in secret and conversations that felt safer than home. You became my favorite notification. My "don't tell anyone but..." person.
And the scary part? It felt easy.
But life doesn't care about easy.
Life cares about timing. And ours was tragically off-beat.
We loved in lowercase. Quiet. Careful. Almost hidden. Like we were scared that if we said it out loud, the universe would hear us and take it away.
And it did.
Now we're strangers with memories.
Two people who know each other's favorite songs but pretend we don't exist. I see your name and my chest still does that stupid little thing. I tell myself I'm over it, but healing isn't linear - it's just me romanticizing the past at 1:37 a.m.
Maybe in another universe we worked out.
Maybe there's a version of us that didn't have to choose distance over desire.
But in this one?
