A Denver city councilman is found dead, and the Denver Metropolitan Police Department is frustratingly lost on how to proceed. There are no leads, no clear pieces of evidence, and nothing more than a mysterious untimely death. In desperation, the DMPD enlists the help of Dr. William Curtis McDowell, a prominent scientist, former deputy marshal of the Arizona territory, and professor at the Colorado School of Mines.
Along with his fellow ex- deputy marshal and wife, Patience “Patches” McDowell, he works to solve a crime that looks more and more like murder. Each day brings more dangerous complications; more related deaths occur, and several attempts are made to assassinate Dr. Bill, making it clear that someone out there doesn’t want them involved. At the same time, exciting new discoveries in the vital field of forensic science and psychology are being discovered. Dr. Bill and Patches will risk their lives to discover that even in a child’s fairy tale, there can be killing dreams.

Cover by @AdlerBourbon This story is about a dystopian social experiment devised by a disturbed professor. The town of Delphnea, a seemingly medieval village, is in fact an elaborate, controlled environment designed to simulate life in a bygone era. The professor has isolated the town from the modern world by erecting an invisible barrier, ensuring that none of the inhabitants can escape. His goal is to study how people behave when stripped of modern comforts and technology, reverting to primitive instincts and medieval societal structures. All of Delphnea's residents, including Carter and his father, are unaware that they are part of this grand experiment. They believe their lives are authentic and that they are living in a true medieval society. However, behind the scenes, the professor manipulates their environment-planting false information, monitoring their every move with hidden technology, and occasionally sending in outsiders like workers or agents to fix or alter parts of the experiment. The experiment is carefully crafted to test human behavior under duress, but over time, cracks begin to show. Modern elements occasionally slip through-like advanced technology, strange devices, and inconsistencies in the town's medieval setting-leading Carter and others to question their reality. As Carter and his friends uncover the truth, they realize they are pawns in a much larger game, a twisted psychological study where escape seems impossible and the professor watches every move from his hidden control room. In a world ruled by lies, the truth is deadly

"You're telling me you didn't do it?" she asked. "Yes. I don't know what happened. I was asleep when it...when she..." Crystal's face was the prime example of someone who wasn't believing what they were being told. "Suicide, you're suggesting?" I didn't answer. "Well, Mr. McCain, according to your test results, you're clear," she leaned closer. "But between you and me, I don't believe the tests." Nolan McCain is a normal high school counselor, when suddenly his world is turned upside down when he's accused of murdering his wife. These days, your blood turns darker with each crime you commit, and when they test Nolan's, it's white as snow. Detective Crystal Parkes is on the case as soon as she hears this. "You saw the test results. My blood is white as snow, the chief said it himself." I said. "White as snow," Crystal squints at me. "Or white as a lie?" **Brief strong language
