Before she was Anne, she was Nyambura.

Taken from the slopes near Mount Kenya and swept through the brutal currents of the 18th-century slave trade, Nyambura is carried across oceans to the rice plantations of South Carolina, where she is renamed Anne and forced into the master's house.
