The scariest monsters are the ones that lurk within our souls.
Written for the Wattpad Open Novella Contest 2026 and inspired by the prompt "Monsters don't live under our beds. They live in the recesses of our minds", this story is a work of historical fiction and psychological horror. It follows a German man who, after fleeing to an isolated estate in Argentina with his family, is forced to confront the consequences of the atrocities he helped commit during the Second World War.
