Vampiric Blood Disease is a severe virus that causes extreme bodily mutations, fatal sun sensitivity, intolerances to all human food, and an uncontrollable urge to eat human flesh. Orlev and Joaquin were just infected.

Dr. Johnathon Orlev and Joaquin Jimenez were infected with VBD during the 2019 New Year's Eve Massacre. Orlev is a stealth, pregnant trans man (with twins no less...), and has quite a few issues. Mostly regarding unprocessed childhood trauma and an unhealthy obsession with angels... also bugs. Joaquin, on the other hand, is a trans man who spends a little too much time on 4chan. He doesn't remember the Massacre, much less most events of his life.
