In a world where everyone is tested at eighteen and assigned a role-Dominant or Submissive-there are no gray areas. Dominants lead. Subs follow. Aurelian Cross was classified a Sub, despite growing into the powerful CEO of one of the city's largest media companies. He's spent years performing dominance well enough that no one questions him. Kieran Vale was also classified a Sub-but no one ever explained his result. He was simply told where to stand and who to serve. Quiet, observant, and far more commanding than he appears, he's learned to survive by staying invisible. When Kieran becomes Aurelian's assistant, something doesn't align. Instinct pulls in the wrong direction. Control shifts where it shouldn't. And the system begins to notice. As scrutiny tightens, they must decide whether to retreat into the roles they were assigned-or risk everything to choose their own. In a society built on classification, defiance isn't loud. Sometimes, it's simply refusing to fit.

She was afraid they would drink her blood, and they were afraid she would be hungry and cold. She thought she was a reserve of food, but they treated her like their life. Until the commander, whose face was covered in black markings, spoke to her haltingly in his newly learned Chinese: "Drink this, it's a nutrient solution, it doesn't suck blood." "Sleep, this is a hibernation pod, not a coffin. We are not vampires." "You are the guide, and we are the sentinels." "Our mission is to protect you." ... By chance, Ye Lingxi discovered that Qimen talismans could actually reduce the contamination level of sentinels. From then on, the legend of the Xuanmen Celestial Masters began in this interstellar space. With a compass in one hand and a talisman in the other, Ye Lingxi can pull even a berserk sentinel back from the brink of death. ... Much later, everyone in the Federation knew that on that most remote, desolate planet lived twelve madmen who had crawled back from hell. They stayed by their only guide's side, never leaving him for a moment, until their deaths. (Credit to the Original Author San Qian Chi Chan)
