I was finishing my hair when a shadow filled my doorway. I stood up when I saw who it was, flipping off the curling iron quickly and taking a couple steps back from him. Why he had to come now, I don't know. But I'd be lying if I said I wanted him to leave.
"I know it's a bit weird, since you and what's his face are together, that I'm here. But he doesn't tell you how beautiful you are, you told me that, remember? So that's why I'm here. To tell you. In case he forgets to tell you tonight, or doesn't have sense enough to." It was obvious he was nervous, a new look for him. He was fidgeting with the rose in his jacket pocket, but his fingers stopped and he brought his gaze to my eyes. "Charlotte, you are beautiful."
