Hidden beyond the mortal world, its reapers harvest souls and keep the balance between life and the unknown. None question the will of the High Order.

Until now.

When Warden Alaric, one of the most revered reapers of the Order, stands accused of treason, the Court of Severance fills as it has not since the early age of men.

The charge is unthinkable: refusal of severance... and the concealment of a human soul.

Among the crowd stands Cassian, a Severant known for his ruthless precision. Once bound by brotherhood to Alaric, he must now choose between the oath he swore to the Order... or the truth that could destroy it.
