When the Aliens, the Covenant, invaded, it seemed as if Mankind had no hope. Then the Spartans came to the rescue. These genetically modified super soldiers, originally meant to quell insurrectionist activity, now held the fate of their race in their hands. Many died for the cause, and many victories were won because of their intervention. Through all the dirt and blood, one rose above them all, Master Chief, or John 117.

This ultimate Spartan II, paired with the special AI, or artificial intelligence, Cortana, led humanity to victory time and time again, escaping death more times than thought possible. However, after defeating the zombie-like Flood that threatened humanity and aliens alike, he disappeared without a trace. With hope at an all time low, and alien threats still on the horizon, something had to be done.

This is the purpose of Steele, Spartan 118. Despite the process being banned after Spartan IIs, humanity is desperate, and so he's kidnapped, trained, and augmented the same as the original Spartan IIs by Dr. Catherine Halsey. The pressure is now on to replicate the Master Chief through him, and the road of Hero will not be easy. Secrets are kept from him, trust is broken, and hidden enemies threaten his life and those around him. However, Steele was chosen for a reason, and those who threaten the innocent better watch out.

A New Hero Has Risen.

PROJECT HALO is a YA sci-fi thriller taking place in near-future Norway. It has speculative elements and will appeal to fans of dystopian works such as DIVERGENT, THE MAZE RUNNER, LEGEND, and BLACK MIRROR. All seventeen-year-old Charlie Walker wants is to be free of his father's stupid expectations. Stay in school? No thanks. Get a job? Nope. Stop cursing? Hell no. But if he knew his petty rebellion would result in his own kidnapping, he might've reconsidered. When Charlie wakes up at Norway's largest intelligence agency, the NIC, with a biochip in his brain, he faces problems bigger than his father's disapproval. Charlie is their first successful experiment, and when activated, the chip will give the agency unbarred access to his vital signs and location. So much for freedom. But before his biochip can be activated, a rogue doctor offers Charlie a chance to escape. In return, he has to find and keep a flash drive hidden from the NIC. At first, agreeing to the deal seems obvious. But when NIC sends agents to hunt Charlie down, he realizes the flash drive might be more important than he thought. He's faced with an ultimatum: hand over the flash drive, or a lethal virus will be released onto the population. If he obliges, his chip will be activated and he'll lose his freedom forever. If he doesn't, people will die-including his ex-friend-who-he-totally-still-hates. Including the charming hacker he has a crush on. Including his demanding father. Including himself. In a race against time and his own selfish thoughts, Charlie must decide who to trust with his deadly secret-and exactly how far he's willing to go in the name of freedom. - - - Trigger warnings: Death and dying, blood, swearing, syringes/needles, hospitals, alcoholism, anger issues, nightmares, kidnapping, being drugged against one's will, suicide mention, terrorism/terror attacks, guns/weapons.
Halo 4 Reclamation - Alternate Universe Halo Story by Chris9417
16 parts Complete
In an alternate universe of Halo, the Master Chief and Cortana arrive on Earth after their harrowing journey through the stars, but with a dark twist-Cortana is rapidly succumbing to Rampancy. In a desperate bid to save her, the Chief seeks out Dr. Halsey, the brilliant scientist who created her, only to discover that the only way to preserve Cortana's consciousness is to upload her into a human host. The process will "kill" the human's mind, leaving Cortana as the sole occupant of the body, effectively replacing them. In a shocking turn, Dr. Halsey volunteers herself, offering up her own life to save the AI that has become so much more than just a tool. Halsey undergoes the procedure, and what emerges is a new, human version of Cortana-still carrying the brilliance and tactical genius of the AI, but now trapped in a fragile human form. With ONI breathing down their necks and the UNSC labeling them as fugitives, Chief and Cortana (now Halsey) are forced into a high-stakes escape. Together, they must navigate treacherous waters, relying on the very skills and knowledge that made them the ultimate weapons of war. As they flee to the fringes of the galaxy, they set up a hidden outpost where Cortana/Halsey begins to harness both human and AI strengths to outwit their enemies. With new alliances and strategies at their disposal, they must take the fight to ONI, knowing that the path forward could alter the future of humanity-and their own survival-forever. This is a story of sacrifice, survival, and a relentless fight for freedom against the very forces that created them.
