Diamond, a royal dragon, goes into hiding after her family's castle is attacked.She grows up in secret, forms close friendships,survives being captured and experimented on because of her rare purple blood. With help she escapes and returns to the castle descuised as Crystaldust,becoming Emerald's bodyguard. Her friends begin to suspect her true identitie as a prophecy is disocovered. The prophecy foretells that a lost heir with "amethyst fire" will reclaim the throw, and Diamond prepares to fullfill her destiny.
