Anna has always lived in two worlds: one she shows and one she hides. Outwardly, she is disciplined and rational as a biology major at Lillian University determined to become an immunologist. She believes in data, certainty, and the comfort of a well-mapped future. Wonder and imagination, once her closest companions, have been quietly set aside for ordered logic.
Everything shifts the night she sneaks out of the dorm she shares with her current girlfriend, Heather, and ends up in the arms of a dark-haired stranger. For the first time, Anna questions whether security is the same thing as happiness, and whether the life she is building is truly her own.
