Everyone in Aberdeen, South Dakota knows the story of Layne Hasting, a drug-addled teenage rocker, who took his life about two years ago with a shotgun... or so they say.
To Renn Webster, the official version never quite added up. Something about Layne's suicide had always felt too clean. When his friend, Tommy Rowe, discovers a mysterious cassette tape belonging to Layne's old rock band, it became clear that the factors leading up to his death were far from ordinary.
