PROLOGUE

"Dance!" he roared over the chaos.

She shook her head, dizzy from smoke.

He grabbed her shoulders and threw her toward the center.

"Show me what they were waiting to see!"

She tried.

One step.

Two.

Her vision blurred.

Coughing tore through her lungs.

"Pathetic," he spat.

"This is what they would applaud?"

She collapsed.

Flames roared louder now, licking the balconies.

Guards dragged the last ones out.

Smoke swallowed the chandeliers.

For a heartbeat-

he stood there watching her unconscious body framed by firelight.

Beautiful.

Fragile.

His.

And somewhere beyond the burning walls of Badi Chowk, Suryagarh trembled without yet realizing what it had awakened.

Because men like Prince Shaurya were not created for peace.

They were created for obsession. For ruin. For the kind of devotion that leaves cities burning long after the flames die.
