The High Prince of Asphodel was never meant to survive his betrayal.

Malachir Vael crossed the boundary between Heaven and Hell under his father's command, assured the breach of the ancient treaty had been sanctioned. Instead, he was seized, shackled in divine light, and locked within Heaven's Spire as a trophy of Infernal treachery.

No rescue came.

No war followed.

Only silence.

Seraphel, called Sera, is one of many daughters of the goddess Calistria. Raised in gilded academies, taught that devotion earns love and obedience earns worth, she has spent her life guarding Heaven's most dangerous prisoners. She has seen her mother twice. She still waits for a third summons that will mean she is finally enough.

When she is assigned to oversee the fallen prince, she expects rage.

Instead, she finds a demon who watches her like he is unraveling her thread by thread.

Malachir does not beg.
He does not threaten.

He studies.

He asks her why Heaven fears questions.
Why the instruments of interrogation flicker when he speaks the truth.
Why a goddess of justice has not once visited her imprisoned daughter.

Every conversation burns hotter.
Every glance lingers longer.
Every doubt feels like treason.

As whispers of unrest stir in Asphodel and suspicion coils through the Divine court, Sera begins to see fractures in the perfection she was raised to worship. And when she learns that Malachir may have been sacrificed by his own father to secure a greater, darker scheme, the lines between enemy and ally blur into something far more dangerous.

To free him would ignite war.

To betray him would destroy the only person who has ever truly seen her.

But when Heaven itself begins to close in, Sera must choose:

Remain obedient and untouched.

Or fall for the demon prince whose touch could shatter empires.

And when angels fall, they do not fall alone.

Valeria didn't rush. She never did. Inez was pinned beneath her, wrist locked overhead, the hold precise and impersonal. Not pain. Control. Inez scoffed anyway. "That's it?" she sneered. "I've had tutors scarier than you." Valeria said nothing. The silence pressed in. "You don't scare me," Inez added, louder. Brattier. "You just-" "Enough." One word. Flat. Final. Valeria lifted Inez's chin with two fingers, detached as a correction. "Look at me," she said coolly. "If you're going to embarrass yourself, do it properly." Inez laughed, brittle. "You think this makes you powerful?" "I don't think," Valeria replied. "I decide." Her gaze never wavered. "You provoke because it's the last control you have." "I don't belong to you," Inez snapped. Valeria leaned in, voice razor-thin. "You are my wife. You belong to consequences." She released her grip. "Say it." A"No." Valeria waited. The quiet broke Inez, she hated being ignored. "...I'll behave, I'll be a good girl" Inez muttered. "Specify." Inez swallowed hard. "...I'll be your good girl" Valeria stepped back, already distant. "Good," she said. "Remember why." #1 older women-13th February (FAST PACE BOOK)
