12 year old Ludwig befriends a local Italian boy whilst on vacation. 11 years later they cross paths again in a completely different country.
It's 1969, the summer of love. A 12 year old Ludwig is on vacation in Italy with his grandfather and older brother Gilbert. Ludwig strikes up a friendship with a local boy, Feliciano. They both promise they will meet again as adults one day.
11 years later in 1980 Ludwig moves to New York, chasing the American dream and runs into a familiar face. Feliciano. The two of them, now adults, fall for each other hard and fast. However the backdrop of the looming AIDS crisis and rampant homophobia makes navigating their relationship troublesome.
The first 3 chapters (before the time skip) are quite heavily inspired by of George DeValiers Auf Weidershen Sweetheart.
