Book one of the Royals series. Maya, a young girl struggling to take care of her mother and younger brother by selling fish, ends up getting picked in her kingdom's annual Child Opportunity Day. This day is made to give less privileged children a better shot at success. They can be offered free education towards a particular role in the kingdom or great material things, but what happens when Maya is given a once-in-a-lifetime chance? To become a princess. A princess of the royal Bridgestone family, rulers of Rovalria. Her mother and brother see it as a blessing, she sees it as an unnecessary decision. What could a family with five females and three males possibly want with an addition to their family? More importantly, a peasant like her? To add to the drama, Ophelia, the third princess, hates her guts, and two of her brothers seem interested in her. How will life turn out for this common girl thrown into a world of royals and secrets lurking everywhere?
