Sleep paralysis is a state where the mind wakes up but the body remains temporarily frozen during REM sleep.
A person cannot move or speak and may experience vivid hallucinations.
Many report seeing shadow figures, hearing whispers, or feeling pressure on their chest.
Though it feels terrifying, episodes usually last only a few minutes.
