Fern wasn't always his name. He had loving parents and amazing friends. His life was practically perfect. Normal? Maybe. Boring? Probably. But it was more than enough. He was happy. He didn't want anything to happen.
If only.
Storms... Sharpedoes... and maybe a touch of bad luck? They make a deadly combination. It flipped his life - in a way almost impossible to put into words - upside down. Nothing would ever be the same again. It wouldn't be an understatement to say that a part of him *died* on that day.
Some mons wouldn't see him grow up, and he'd never see a Pokemon he cared for - loved, liked, remembered - again.
However... seven - seven long, pain-filled, grueling years later - everything changed... again. For better... or for worse? Well, he'd find out eventually. Only Arceus would know if he'd appreciate it more than countless, sleepless nights alone in a place that he didn't know, surrounded by things - and threats - that he'd never had to even think of before. The paranoia, the solitude, the emotions, and... trauma?
