When the gates to hell are opened by a global cult, the Reborn Children of the Healed World, the Earth is devastated by all different types of raging demons. Humanity is forced to tiny pockets of civilization in corners of the wasteland that always risk mayhem and death. Governments bomb cities and execute practitioners of magic to slow the spread of apocalyptic horrors. Some survive, many do not.

Twelve years after what Texas refers to as "the Fall", Dalton Coakley is happy to waste away in his little town of Ellington. A trailer, a town marketplace, some booze, and a walkman. What more could a guy need? 

His daughter, for starters. Dalton's plans of riding out the Fall safe behind Ellington's walls are shattered when pre-teen Camila is kidnapped by the Reborn Children, with no clue what will happen to her. It will take a great deal of ambition, learning, and spiritual awareness for Dalton to navigate the world he thought he once knew to find his daughter.
