As another harsh night descends upon the forest near Akito's hometown in Japan, the search party looking for the missing Asuka disbands once again after yet another day without results. The only clue they have about Asuka is that he was last seen walking into the forest-not a whole lot to go on. Akito can't stand it anymore, not being able to do anything with the group or going as far as he likes, and so he sets out on his own to find Asuka in the forest that spreads for miles and miles, leaving a simple note behind for his family.
While Akito travels alone through the foggy forest, a sudden light appears, but before he can investigate, it vanishes, leaving only white around him until a nice, vintage hotel slowly materializes as if out of thin air. Akito managed to find a hotel in the middle of nowhere, or maybe The Hotel found him. A feeling in his chest pulls him to enter The Hotel, but when he tries to leave it as soon as he realizes maybe this place isn't for him, he can't; it's not his time to check out yet.
