At Seventeen, I'm forced to leave London with my Australian dad while my older sister, Elowen, stays behind with our mum. One decision splits my world in two - two countries, two time zones, two halves of a life that used to feel whole.

Starting over in Sydney isn't as simple as sunshine and beaches. It's loneliness, late-night calls that never line up, and trying to figure out who I am without the person who's always been my other half.

But in 2013, when three almost-always-late boys with guitars - Calum, Michael and Luke - start inviting me to sit with them between rehearsals and small local gigs, Australia doesn't feel quite so impossible.
