The Night Shift at Glimmerlight Swamp

At Glimmerlight Swamp Medical Centre, a hospital in a surreal and strange pocket of the world, Eilo Crow is being forced to return to his old position as a night shift doctor. An Abstract emergency of unknown scale has caused a shortage of staff at Glimmerlight Swamp. The previous workers are being offered a suspicious deal to return. At the hospital await him old traumas, new traumas, self-reflection, and... him.

Patrick Graves, a skilled doctor Eilo knew during his last stint at the hospital. An old friend who now, at best treats him as a stranger, at worst an icy foe. The building strain makes the shift more unbearable than it already is. As they receive stranger cases than they've ever seen before, tensions rise, old memories threaten to swallow them whole, and reminders of a warmth they'd once had naw at them at the worst moments.

Eilo and Patrick are just trying to survive the night shift at Glimmerlight Swamp without falling apart. Cases get dire, whispers of a larger threat circulate, and a sense of bleakness creeps back in. In the end, the pair will have to face that the best thing they have to rely on is, and has always been, each other.

Readers follow our characters across two stints of time: one in the past in the form of reviewed memories in therapy sessions, to see first meetings, the birth of trauma, and a family formed of bonds not blood. A year and a half of night shifts. The other in the present to see reconnections, the aftermath of traumatic experiences, and how growth is as painful, exhausting, and hard as it is beautiful. All in a single night.
