Maya Robbins seems to have it all; a star hockey player-turned-recruited father, a safe job working as a junior girls hockey coach, and full support for her fibromyalgia. But beyond the facade, Maya longs to prove to her father that she's not a fragile doll who needs protection. And Yuki Ayuzawa is her answer. Minor league hockey player Yuki Ayuzawa is disgruntled to attend therapy for a knee injury. Known on the ice for his brutality and cold disposition, Yuki bends under the pressure of his mother and strives to make it to the major leagues. Appealing to recruiters, particularly Chase Robbins from the Mastodons, is his utmost priority. And Maya Robbins is his answer. The two enter a fake relationship to the benefit of each other, but feelings develop to the dismay of Yuki, whose goals start to falter. As their relationship crosses the lines into reality, Yuki and Maya will have to decide if their love is worth fracturing their goals and lives.

After fleeing her abusive ex in the middle of the night, Chloe Dawson arrives in a small coastal town with nothing but a duffel bag, a crying six-month-old baby, and the last of her savings. She rents a tiny apartment where the walls are paper-thin. Next door lives Sergeant Mason Kane, disciplined, exhausted, emotionally closed off, and currently on leave between military assignments. After years in the army, silence is the only thing that helps him sleep. Then the baby starts crying every night. At first, Mason is irritated. Chloe is terrified of him. Every knock on the door reminds her of the man she escaped.
