Nine year old Cassandra is stripped away from her home, her father, her life by people willing to do anything to get her in their clutches, however their cage doesn't last for long.

Now, sixteen year old her is on the run from an entire kingdom of hunters, joining a rebellion of people fighting for justice and freedom against the king's unjust rule.

But the game of chess has just started. She is brought into a test to become royalty, except one wrong step and she will be met with death, or something worse - the fear she'd been running away from for the last seven years.

Her story, just like this game, has just begun, and with it, all the pieces will be set in motion.

This is a battle between her mind, guts, insticts, trust, emotions and her heart.
