Heir's Key

Twenty-year old Eloise wasn't looking for another world. She had stumbled upon a magical fae shop, one that shows up when you least expect. In mortal myths, they say coming across one will either bring you great fortune or uncover your deepest desires.

She had bought a key threaded with a red ribbon. Then found herself falling through starlight and into a general's private healing bath on a celestial warship. Far from home.

In his hand already raised was a blade. The tip pointed at her chin.
"Don't move," he commanded. His voice was low and controlled.
She froze. Body obeying before her mind registered what's happening.
"Which fraction sent you?" he demands. "Duke Draveth? Or one of the other rebel clans?"
"I-what? No! I don't even know where I am!" she shouted hysterically, her words getting tangled and eyes going wide.
"Lie again," he says evenly, the sword pressing closer to her throat, "and you will not leave this room alive."
He's dangerous. His dark eyes are sharp, assessing every inch of my face. And when his dark eyes drop to the bronze key hanging at her neck, something shifts. He lowered his blade, taking a step closer.
"Where did you get that?"
"I bought it. There was a shop and I fell and-"
"The Key of the Heir," he murmurs, like it's a prophecy. Or a curse.

Now Eloise is trapped aboard a warship with a general who wants her dead.
She only wanted a key.

Now she might have been catapulted into the middle of an intergalactic conflict.
