The Drum of Guabancex is a myth-inspired story rooted in Taíno belief, set in Borikén (Puerto Rico).
It tells of Guabancex, the fierce spirit of wind and storms, who creates thunder as a warning to humanity. When the people forget to respect the balance of the land, she strikes her drum of cloud and stone, and thunder is born. Blending folklore, nature, and spiritual symbolism, the story explores themes of environmental responsibility, ancestral wisdom, and the eternal connection between humans and the natural world.
