In the summer of 1812, what begins as a chance encounter at dawn slowly becomes something neither of them can control. He is bound by duty. She is not meant to be part of his world. And yet, with every meeting, the line between what is right and what is desired begins to blur. Because some temptations are not meant to be resisted... and some consequences refuse to be undone. There are choices that change everything and others that make turning back impossible. Will love prove stronger than duty... or will it be the very thing that makes duty impossible to ignore? Note on Language and Etiquette: In certain chapters, brief comments may appear at specific moments in the text to provide historical context or to clarify references that may not be widely known today. These notes are included to help readers better understand the customs, ideas, or literary works mentioned in the story, while preserving the atmosphere of the period. Ride Before Dawn is set in England in the early nineteenth century, during the Regency period. The language, manners, and forms of address used by the characters reflect the customs of that time. Speech in this era was often more formal than modern English. Expressions such as I wish, I should, or I shall were commonly used in place of the more direct forms heard today. Social etiquette was also far stricter. Gentlemen and ladies rarely addressed one another by their first names unless they were family or shared a close familiarity. Titles and surnames were the expected form of address in polite society. For this reason, readers may notice characters referring to one another as Lord Ashbourne, Mr Montgomery, Lady Anne, or Miss Montague, rather than by their given names. These conventions were an essential part of aristocratic life and are preserved here to maintain the atmosphere of the period.
