Death of the Hawthorns

No one knows what happened to Esme Hawthorn two years ago. Not even the person who caused her disappearance. The Hawthorns, a united family of witches, are crumbling. Esme's siblings, Alse, Willow, Aspen, Alatar, and Raven Hawthorn, think their mom killed Esme. Their mother, Aura Hawthorn, has been acting on extremely violent impulses since an incident none of the siblings seems to be able to remember. Then the Hawthorns find proof that Esme is still alive, right before it is announced, by a goddess herself, that witch hunters are coming to invade Hawthorn Academy, the best-known school for witches.
