It all started with a raccoon in Georgia. First, it was a bite, spreading like wildfire amongst the wildlife surrounding Atlanta. Then came domestic pets, cats and dogs turning on their masters. What followed was complete and utter pandemonium. Fear laid heavy on the population. People panicked, rightfully so, with some crying that the Rapture was neigh. The US government declared martial law. Canada and Mexico closed it's borders in a feeble attempt to contain the sickness. This is the story of the survivors.

Faye Scamander was never dangerous. She was the girl who handed out biscuits like blessings, chatted with portraits, rescued injured creatures, and left wildflowers on desks simply because it felt kind. Instead, they kept colliding-his armour against her gentleness, his silence against her small-magic courage. And somewhere between a flower she gave him, a biscuit he pretended not to want, and the moments they lingered without meaning to- everything shifted. Because some spells were loud and destructive. But the ones that changed a life? They were always the small things no one saw coming
