The First Echo

In 1348, the world is ending. As the Black Death climbs the mountain toward St. Jude's Abbey, Brother Tomas commits a desperate act of alchemy. Using a "star-stone" fallen from the heavens, he creates a shimmering, violet ink-only to find that his words don't dry. They vanish, replaced by the frantic, modern script of a woman who claims to be living seven centuries in his future.

Tomas believes he is talking to a Saint; in reality, he is tethered to Elara, a researcher in the year 2026. As the plague shadows his door, Tomas must use Elara's "future-sight" to save his brothers, unaware that every life he saves in the past rewrites the world she calls home.
