Akeelah is a gifted young lady who had the plans to become a Vet Technician at one of the best programs in Califorina. The public expects nothing else from her due to her being the daughter of one of the most famous and wealthiest entertainment lawyers in Hollywood.

But she leaves the public and her family shook after she leaves the college after her first semester and goes to the Marine corps when there is a active war in Afghanistan.

Akeelah had the mindset that it wouldn't affect her but after her second deployment she was sent to the war.
