Jessica writes what she's trying to forget.

By day, Jessica is a "chill" café owner and best-selling author. But beneath her shop's checkered floors lies a high-tech bunker-a gift from her overprotective brother, Peter, the head of a Tactical Response Unit. Jessica isn't just a writer; she's a former "Desk Detective" who quit the Job to escape her sociopathic ex, a criminal fixer named Jason Vane.

When her three chaotic, "shoot from the hip" friends-Tom, AJ, and Luke-stumble into her shop with a stolen encrypted ledger, Jessica's quiet life is shattered. Suddenly, she's back in Vane's crosshairs. With the boys providing the muscle and Jessica providing the mind, they must navigate a world of high-society galas and secret tunnels to stop a madman.

But as Jessica decrypts the final pages of the ledger, she finds a truth hidden between the lines: a conspiracy that reaches the very top of the police force, implicating the people her brother trusts most.
